Landscape Transport Driver – CDL

Compensation: $23–$28 per hour, based on CDL class, experience, and qualifications

Position Summary

Steadfast Alliance is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Landscape Transport Driver with a valid CDL to support our landscaping operations in San Antonio, FL and surrounding areas. The driver will safely transport trees, plants, landscaping materials, equipment, and debris from our nursery and suppliers to commercial and residential landscape projects and other job sites.

This position plays an important role in ensuring that our landscape crews receive the correct plant material, trees, equipment, and supplies safely and on schedule. The ideal candidate is dependable, experienced with commercial vehicles and trailers, comfortable working outdoors, and committed to safe handling of plant material and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Nursery Loading & Plant Transportation

• Load trees, shrubs, plants, palms, sod, and other plant material from the Steadfast Alliance nursery for delivery to commercial and residential landscape projects.
• Carefully handle and secure trees and plants to prevent damage during loading, transportation, and unloading.
• Verify plant quantities, sizes, varieties, and materials against project or delivery requirements before leaving the nursery.
• Properly secure trees, plants, root balls, containers, and other landscape materials for safe transportation.
• Transport nursery materials and plant material safely to commercial and residential landscape projects, job sites, and other designated locations.
• Coordinate with nursery personnel and landscape project supervisors regarding loading, delivery timing, and job-site requirements.
• Safely unload trees and plants at project locations in coordination with landscape crews.
• Help position plant material in designated areas of the job site to support efficient installation.
• Inspect trees and plants during loading and unloading and report any damage or issues to the appropriate supervisor.
• Maintain proper care and handling procedures for live plant material during transportation.

Landscape Transportation & Job-Site Support

• Safely operate CDL-required trucks, trailers, and other commercial vehicles.
• Transport landscaping materials such as mulch, soil, gravel, rock, irrigation materials, and other supplies.
• Haul and deliver landscape equipment, tools, trailers, and job-site materials to commercial and residential projects.
• Transport landscape debris and waste to approved disposal facilities.
• Load, secure, transport, and unload equipment and materials according to company safety procedures.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report mechanical or safety concerns.
• Maintain accurate delivery, mileage, fuel, and vehicle inspection records.
• Follow all applicable DOT, state, and company safety regulations.
• Communicate effectively with nursery staff, landscape crews, project managers, supervisors, suppliers, and customers.
• Follow assigned delivery routes and schedules and complete pickups and deliveries in a timely manner.
• Assist landscape crews with loading, unloading, and basic job-site tasks when needed.
• Keep trucks, trailers, and transportation equipment clean, organized, and in safe operating condition.
• Perform other transportation and landscape-support duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) appropriate for the vehicles operated.
• Clean and safe driving record.
• Previous experience driving commercial trucks, dump trucks, trailers, or landscape/construction vehicles preferred.
• Experience transporting trees, plants, nursery stock, or landscaping materials is a plus.
• Ability to safely load, secure, transport, and unload large trees, plants, equipment, and landscape materials.
• Ability to safely operate vehicles and trailers in commercial, residential, nursery, and construction environments.
• Ability to lift, carry, load, and unload materials and equipment as required.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong commitment to workplace and road safety.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in landscaping, nursery operations, landscape construction, or related industries.
• Experience towing and maneuvering equipment trailers.
• Familiarity with local roads and commercial and residential landscape projects in Pasco County and surrounding areas.
• Basic knowledge of trees, plants, landscape materials, and equipment.
• Experience with safe handling and transportation of large trees and nursery stock.
• DOT medical certification, if required for the position and vehicle operated.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit and operate a commercial vehicle for extended periods.
• Ability to frequently bend, stoop, climb, reach, and walk on uneven terrain.
• Ability to lift and carry materials weighing 50 pounds or more as required.
• Ability to assist with loading and unloading trees, plants, equipment, and landscape materials.
• Ability to work outdoors in heat, rain, and other weather conditions.
